Mockups are critical for Etsy sales.
Mockups allow customers to visualize what a product will look like in person. Often, mockups are created digitally and one by one using templates like those found on Canva.
Mockups typically have a beautiful staged background or wall or appear on a model to give your customer the ultimate idea of what their new artwork will look like on a wall or how the t-shirt design looks on a human.
They build trust with your customers by giving them a clear idea of what they can expect from your product by showing off the product's size, color, shape, and other features, reducing the chances of returns. They are also eye-catching and critical for converting browsers to buyers in your Etsy shop.
The downside is that creating mockups is usually a tedious task.

Bulk Mockup tool for creating a huge number of mockups in a few minutes!
Bulk Mockup is an exciting, user-friendly tool that creates lightning-fast mockups. Rather than manually creating each mockup or using a template for each mockup, you can use Bulk Mockup to generate thousands of mockups in ten minutes.
This massive time-saving tool is well worth the $8 per month price point, especially if you run a large shop or do print-on-demand designs.
Bulk Mockup’s website recommends using your own templates alongside its program. However, they offer a small library of 20+ mockup templates if you are just starting.
The plugin requires Adobe Photoshop CC 2022 or higher and is available on Windows and Mac.
You can create your own mockups using a tool like Canva or purchase reusable mockup template packages on Etsy for a small fee.
Bulk Mockup is user-friendly and fast, making it easy to get started and make hundreds of mockup options for your store.
Create three folders on your computer: Design Files, Output, and PSD Mockup Templates.
Open Bulk Mockup and input parameters to inform the program where to pull design files and templates and where to store the finished designs (Output).
Click on “Run Bulk Mockup” to begin the process and sit back and relax. Visit the output folder to see all of your generated mockups.
Select the mockups you like best and upload them to your Etsy listings.
Bulk Mockup has a super simple, streamlined process designed to save you hours of time. I definitely recommend checking out this affordable program if you create a lot of mockups. The time saved is invaluable and will allow you to make more money by listing products earlier and freeing up your time to develop other products.
P.S. I've recently added a full walk-through of how I use Bulk Mockup on my YouTube channel and you can check it out below if you prefer to see how awesome it is in real time! :)
Placeit is one of the most popular mock-up template design tools for Etsy shop owners. It’s a web-based program providing customizable design templates and mockups for many types of print and digital products. It’s easy to use and offers an extensive library of stock photos, videos, and templates that you can use in their designs.
Like Bulk Mockup, it operates on a subscription-based model.
Placeit’s ready-to-use template offerings
Placeit offers some of the best lifestyle-based mockups on the market. However, if you sell to highly specific niches or communities, finding the right mockup for your products can be challenging.
On the other hand, if you sell in popular niches like t-shirts, you’ll run into the problem that many other sellers will be using the same few images offered by Placeit.
This can make your brand look boring and “standard,” making it more difficult for your products to stand out. With Bulk Mockup, you can upload templates you made or purchase beautiful templates through Etsy, Creative Market, Envato Elements, and more to find the perfect brand-defining templates.
Another downfall of Placeit is that you can’t edit the templates and designs very much.
Bulk Mockup is much more flexible, allowing you to tailor the template to your personalized needs. Remember, Bulk Mockup is a Photoshop extension, so the editing capabilities are through the Photoshop program.
The most significant difference between Placeit and Bulk Mockup is the time commitment. Bulk Mockup automates mockup creation. Once you’ve collected your templates and design files and set the parameters on the plugin, you can sit back and allow it to create all your mockups.
Placeit is a manual, web-based program. While mockup creation with Placeit is simple, it is manual and requires a large time investment to sit and create many mockups at once. Creating a handful of mockups could easily take you over an hour, even after you’re experienced with the program.
A common complaint I hear from other Etsy creators is that Placeit can also lag during mockup creation and be slow to render the final mockup. As a business owner, time is money, and nobody wants to sit around and wait for their mockup to render one at a time.
I recommend checking out Bulk Mockup as it saves you many hours of time, is reasonably priced, and is an excellent extension for Photoshop users.
