One of the questions I often get asked is, “Do I have to be an artist to make digital products?” 

The answer? No!

I am not in any way an artist. I have no special training or experience in graphic design or art, yet I was able to scale my Etsy digital products shop to six figures within a few months with no existing audience. 

With the emergence of AI tools like ChatGPT, creating and selling digital products successfully is even easier as you can now task AI software with making your designs. All you need is a strong concept and a little patience to learn how to use AI software platforms. 

Keep reading to learn about the top four AI software platforms I use for digital product creation, their pros and cons, pricing plans, and special AI features.

Creative Fabrica Spark

Creative Fabrica Spark, or CF Spark, is an AI tool and software suite that allows you to create art, text, patterns, and sketches from prompt inputs. 

One of Creative Fabrica Spark’s best tools for digital product creation is CF Spark Writer, an AI tool that allows you to fill in the kind of product you sell, the words you want to include in the name, and the language you want the product in. After filling this in, this AI tool generates 20 results instantly with the option to create more. You can easily use this tool to brainstorm store names, store bios, listing titles, and even listing descriptions. 

Other tools, like CF Spark Crystalline, generate beautiful, transparent PNGs that you can add to a huge number of products, like mugs, t-shirts, and printables. 

CF Spark Patterns is another strong feature, offering the ability to create seamless patterns with short digital prompts in mere seconds! This is a fantastic tool for creating patterns to sell on digital marketplaces like Etsy or Pattern Bank, patterns for print-on-demand designs, or digital paper products.

Creative Fabrica Spark has four pricing plans: 

• Crafts: $12/month for three months. This plan gives you access to nearly 200,000 cut files, the craft club, and a commercial license. 

• All Access: This fan-favorite plan is $29/month and includes everything from the craft subscription, a commercial license, access to over 100,000 fonts, nearly seven million graphic assets, and much more. 

• Fonts: If you’re interested primarily in fonts, this plan gives you access to over 120,000 fonts, with new fonts being added daily. A commercial license is included. 

• Graphics: The graphics plan includes access to a commercial license and nearly seven million graphic designs, with new graphics added daily.

You can use Creative Fabrica Spark for free and access the AI tools I shared, but you can’t download the file in high resolution without a subscription. So, while it’s technically a free program, I would factor in the subscription cost, as selling anything less than a high-resolution design won’t be high-quality enough for customers. 

All in all, Creative Fabrica Spark is one of the easiest AI platforms for creating digital products and offers a great variety of software applications. 

Kittl AI

Kittl AI is a browser-based drag-and-drop template designer with various AI features. This platform shines because of its massive number of editable templates. You can create projects from scratch or start with any of its templates to speed up the process. 

Once inside the editor, you can use Kittl’s AI features to generate text, mockups, and many other types of designs, which you can sell with a commercial license with any of its premium plans. 

Another fantastic feature is Kittl’s on-point color detection. While editing your project, Kittl automatically detects colors in your project and uses AI to recommend color groups for you. This feature helps you to design many versions of your project in different color schemes, which is incredibly helpful for churning out many styles and colors of the same digital product to list in your Etsy shop. 

I also like that Kittl has highly detailed text effects. You can shape your text, add a shadow, and edit special text effects more precisely than most editing tools. 

One caveat about Kittl is that attribution is required, even with a Kittl subscription, so you must disclose any assets you use in your design, such as graphics or photos. 

Like Creative Fabrica Spark, Kittl AI has a free plan, but you only have access to low-res export, which won’t meet the expectations of your customers. 

Otherwise, Kittl AI offers the following subscription plans (billed annually): 

• Pro: At $10/month, this plan offers a commercial license, the ability to work on 100 projects, 1GB upload space, access to all premium templates, and unlimited vector exports. If you’re just starting digital product creation, this is a great plan to start with. 

• Expert: Besides everything in the Pro plan, the Expert plan gives you unlimited projects, 10GB of upload space, and a commercial license. 

• Business: This custom plan is ideal if you have a team and allows up to five users per account, and provides advanced customer support and team and branding features. 

Kittl also offers plans that are billed monthly, but the plans are slightly more expensive. However, this may be a good choice as you test whether you’re sold on this software. 

Leonardo AI

If you’re interested in selling gaming-style artwork, Leonardo AI is the tool for you. With it, you can create models of various items based on your existing creations or use art from references or mood boards you submit to narrow down the AI’s concept for your design. 

From there, you can create variations with user prompts. This is an excellent choice if you’re interested in selling stunning printables or creating custom artwork for clients designing a fantasy world or game. 

This software even lets you train your AI model with your artwork or other photos, so you can continue generating AI art faster. 

Currently, Leonardo AI is in its infancy and only has exclusive early-bird access, so pricing structures are not available yet. 

Midjourney

Like Leonardo AI, Midjourney is still in beta mode. This software has an independent research lab and a small self-funded team of 11 full-time staff members behind this innovative AI software. 

Midjourney is an excellent option if you’re interested in selling anything with cute or kawaii imagery. Digital stickers, digital assets, die stickers and icons, and pattern shops can all benefit from this software’s ability to create cute or fantasy-based designs. 

Midjourney has a fantasy-style bent to its artwork that is ideal for creating concept art, digital stickers, coloring books, and much more. 

Unlike other platforms on this list, Midjourney is connected to Discord, so you must have a Discord account to create custom images from simple text prompts using its AI. To start, simply log into Discord, have your account verified, and then join the Midjourney Discord to begin generating images. 

While this sign-up process isn’t terribly difficult, I find that Midjourney is less user-friendly than some of the other software platforms on this list. However, it is still in beta mode, so this will likely improve with time. 

One of the best features is the ability to create variations of your favorite AI-generate image quickly. After making your first image, additional options to make variations appear, allowing you to make an upscaled version of a new grid of four options based on your favorite picture. 

Some of the most popular ways to use Midjourney to sell digital products is by creating kawaii or cute coloring book pages because of the software’s fantasy niche. 

As for pricing, the Midjourney subscription plans include the following:

• Basic plan: This plan is $8/month billed annually and provides general commercial terms usage rights. 

• Standard plan: The standard plan comes with greater GPU time and unlimited relax GPU time per month, giving you extra bandwidth to produce more designs at a faster rate for your shop. This plan costs $24/month, billed annually. 

• Pro Plan: For the fastest bandwidth, the Pro Plan at $60/month (billed annually) will be ideal. In addition, it allows you to queue up more than three concurrent jobs at once, while the other plans limit you to three at a time. 
  

Overall, I like Midjourney for creating fantastical or cute images for my digital products. 

I like that it offers a user-friendly command list to help you make better designs using special effects like blending, link generation, and even an option to generate four example prompts based on an image you upload. This last option can help you hone in on the best prompts to create the content and style you’re looking for in your digital products.

While tools like ChatGPT are making waves, these top four AI software platforms are my favorite picks for digital product creation because all of them are designed for artists and creatives, making them ideal for digital product creation.
